Morgan County offers a range of opportunities for recreational activities. Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge located between Decatur and Hartselle along the Tennessee River consists of 35,000 acres of wildlife habitat. Visitors can take part in a variety of recreational activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, bird watching, camping, and educational programs. Decatur’s Point Mallard Park covers 750 acres and features a 35-acre water-themed park, 210 campsites, a golf course, and hiking and biking trails. Other sites of interest include The Old State Bank Museum in Decatur, The Carnegie Visual Arts Center, Cook Natural Science Museum, which houses extensive collections of wildlife specimens, especially those species native to the Tennessee Valley, and the historic Hartselle Depot.
