Reeves Peach Farm

6. Reeves Peach Farm

Reeves Farm is part of land settled near Hartselle, Alabama by Thomas "Jack" Reeves in 1835. The first crops grown on the land were cotton, corn, and vegetables for the family's use. In the early 1950s, watermelons grown on the farm were stacked under the oak trees here and sold to neighbors and people traveling along Highway 36. In 1959, L.L. "Jack" Reeves (the great-grandson of Thomas Reeves) and his son, Donnie established the first peach orchards on the farm. four generations of the Reeves family have been growing peaches, along with other fruits and vegetables for over six decades. It is our goal to provide customers with the highest quality tree-ripened peaches possible. We harvest each peach variety over a 7-10 day period. This allows for us to harvest peaches continuously for about 15 weeks. Strawberries are harvested from around April 15th until June 10th. The varieties we grow are Chandler and Camarosa. We have berries available at our market, but we also allow customers to pick their own. We also grow plums, watermelon, cantaloupes, tomatoes, squash, sweet corn, and other vegetables. Please watch our Facebook page or subscribe to our newsletter for other crop ripening notifications.

Red Land Cotton

8. Red Land Cotton

situated at the foot of Bankhead National Forest, our farm has been home to the Yeager family for three generations. From the very beginning, it has been where we each, in turn, have learned the value of hard work and the importance of family. And it’s certainly hard work farming our renowned red soil. It indelibly tints everything it touches and turns to thick clay after a good rain. Growing here means being resilient and hearty. It’s true of our crops, and it’s true of our children. Owned And Operated By Mark Yeager Since 1983, It Was His Vision And Ambition That Shaped It Into A Premier Source Of North Alabama Cotton. In 1994, Mark Yeager built his own cotton gin, a huge undertaking that gave our family strict control over the quality of our cotton fibers. He has since spent years implementing sustainable farming practices across our thousands of acres of land until our farm was able to produce an unrivaled crop with minimal impact on the surrounding environment. While farming is his passion, Mark has always had the mind of a business owner. It’s with that keen perspective and his intimate understanding of the cotton market that he identified an opportunity to do more with our high-quality crop. With the entire family working by his side, we set out to create heirloom-inspired linens from the homegrown cotton that we were growing for a level of quality we could take pride in and an integrated business model that could revitalize a waning cotton industry. And just like that, Red Land Cotton was born. With its roots in the rich, red soil of North Alabama, our bedsheets, bath towels, and other home linens are made with the finest homegrown cotton our farm can produce. We realized long ago that the soil was our greatest asset, so careful thought goes into our farming practices. Our cotton is rain-fed, never irrigated, and produced under the most up-to-date and sustainable farming techniques. We then custom gin our cotton which allows us to ensure that only the finest fibers our farm has to offer become a part of Red Land Cotton linens. Through every step in the process, our linens receive an unsurpassed level of quality control.
