    The mission of the Agriplex is to cultivate a community passionate about preserving our agricultural heritage, educating and feeding our neighbors, and growing a sustainable future. The Agriplex offers 7 monthly programs and community outreach for all age groups. Please check for our programs and special events. It’s Autumn at the Agriplex! We always have so much fun this time of year focusing on the changes the season brings! From pumpkins and apples to turkeys and bees we have so many wonderful programs coming up. Upcoming Programs: Children’s Programs October 8th, 10:00 am, Little Farmers Pumpkins: Pumpkin treats, pumpkins to pick, and pumpkin actives abound in this pumpkin-themed program for the preschoolers. October 25th, 10:00 am, Cullman Library: Pumpkin Adventures! Storytime and pumpkin fun. *Free program, no registration required. October 26th, 10:00 am, Guy Hunt Library (Holly Pond): Pumpkin Adventures! Storytime and pumpkin fun. *Free program, no registration required. October 28th, 9:00 am, Heritage Homeschool Leatherwork: Learn the basics of leatherwork and make your own project to take home. November 6th, 9:00 am, Farm Kids Animal Signs: Join us in learning how to become a nature detective! Kids will learn how to read the ‘clues’ to find out who their animal neighbors are. November 12th, 10:00 am, Little Farmers Turkey Talk: Gobble Gobble, we have a ton of turkey fun planned. We get to meet the star of Thanksgiving! November 18th, 9:00 am, Heritage Homeschool Woodworking: Students will use basic woodworking skills to make a project they can bring home. Due to the hands-on nature (and tools), no unregistered siblings are allowed. Students will need assistance from their adults. All programs require registration at unless otherwise noted. Adult Programs: October 5th, 6:00 pm Living Landscapes Rain Barrels: With plenty of rain in the winter & droughts in the summer, Alabama is the perfect place to harvest rainwater. Learn the basics of collecting rain and make a rain barrel to take home. $45.00 per barrel. October 12th, 6:00 pm Small Commercial Scale Blackberry & Blueberry Production: Arnold Caylor, Retired Director of the Cullman AU Research Station and Kira Sims. Cullman County Extension Coordinator will be speaking on small commercial scale berry growing. This class is open to small-scale farmers or the hobbyist farmer. October 14th, 4:30 pm Heritage Skills Intro to Beekeeping: Taught by Alabama Beekeeping Association President Phillip Garrison. We will be building a complete hive and learning about the basics of backyard bees. November 2nd, 6:00 pm Heritage Skills Beginning Crochet: Learn the basics of crocheting and get started on a cotton washcloth. All supplies will be provided. The class cost is $10.00. November 6th, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Blacksmith Workshop: Taught by Allan Kress. Limited space is available. Adults and youth ages 14-17 with supervising adult. The cost is $25.00. *Program Full, can sign up for the waitlist. November 9th, 6:00 pm, Living Landscapes Cheesemaking: Local urban farmer Kelly Hayes will be teaching the basics of cheesemaking by demonstrating how to make farmers' cheese, chevre, and more. The class cost is $10.00. Thursdays, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Yoga under the Pavilion, Join us for a beginner yoga class in the serenity of nature. $5.00 per person, no registration required. Please bring your yoga mat & water. All programs require registration at unless otherwise noted.
