Lauderdale
From the houses on the bluffs overlooking the Tennessee River to the beautiful and historic homes in the city's downtown area, life in Florence is full of beauty. Florence is an outdoor lover's dream. Golfers pick from a variety of public and private courses. The river and its system of lakes offers a variety of recreational activities. Nature lovers and bird watchers find much to enjoy in the area's public parks, camping areas, and walking trails. In the spring, neighborhoods come alive with flowering dogwoods and azaleas, and the downtown areas buzz with activity as restaurants move tables to the sidewalk and enjoy another change of season.

FISHING AND OUTDOORS
Florence and the Shoals offer a range of fishing options. Cast a line from a pier or a boat or fly fish in rivers and creeks. Here’s an overview of where to fish nearby:
The Tennessee River flows throughout the area, and a series of dams has created three lakes that are fishing hot spots: Lake Pickwick, Wilson Lake, and Lake Wheeler. Head to the lakes to find smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, salt water stripe, sauger, and bream.

I can’t imagine a more perfect place to retire.
My wife and I have traveled the world but Florence is where we choose to call home! We enjoy boating and fishing on beautiful Wilson Lake, golfing at Blackberry Trail, and RTJ Trail and are avid pickle ballers. We plan our year around the W. C. Handy Music Festival in July and enjoy hearing world-class musicians almost any day of the week during the year. I can’t imagine a more perfect place to retire.
