In Jackson County, you are surrounded by 1,124 square miles of natural beauty. Picture being located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains on the 69,000 acre Guntersville Lake of the Tennessee River. It is mountain lakes beauty that affords year-round outdoor activities. The county has recreational options galore: hiking, camping, boating, swimming, hunting, fishing, caving, or just sightseeing. HEALTH CARE SERVICE
The Jackson County Health Care Authority offers a wide range of professional health care services to the residents of our county and the surrounding area including a hospital, two long term care facilities, home health services, urgent care facility, an occupational medicine center, surgical services, and three physician offices. Highlands Medical Center, a 170-bed, acute-care facility is located in Scottsboro with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) covering the entire county. The hospital offers an emergency department, surgery center, imaging center, therapy center, maternity center, and women’s health services, lab services, and sleep disorder center.
