Travels With Darley Season 13 Premieres on PBS with Two New Episodes Spotlighting North Alabama and Accessible Adventures
Decatur, Ala. (January 6, 2026) — Travels with Darley returns for Season 13 with epic road trips across the United States, blending culture, history, food and adventure while featuring travel experiences designed for visitors of all abilities. The new season premieres on PBS stations nationwide with two episodes showcasing North Alabama, a region known for its mountains, lakes, caves, music history and scenic road trip routes.
On Alabama Public Television, viewers can watch the newest North Alabama episodes throughout January, along with encore broadcasts of past Alabama adventures.
“Travels with Darley: North Alabama Road Trip” airs Saturday, January 10 at 3 p.m. CT, taking viewers from Huntsville’s rockets, museums and gardens to Muscle Shoals’ legendary recording studios. Along the way, host Darley Newman visits Scottsboro’s Unclaimed Baggage Center, honors the legacy of Jesse Owens at the Jesse Owens Memorial Park and Museum, explores Cathedral Caverns State Park and highlights meaningful outdoor and cultural stops along the route. The North Alabama episodes also introduce viewers to local history keepers and entrepreneurs, from the Scottsboro Boys Museum to a vineyard tasting experience at Will’s Creek Vineyard, where a well-known “wine mascot,” Mr. Mittens, greets guests.
“Travels with Darley: Accessible North Alabama” premieres Saturday, January 17 at 3 p.m. CT, focusing on inclusive travel experiences with Newman and local experts. The episode features Wheel the World, a global leader in accessible travel, and its third-party accessibility verification process while in Decatur, Huntsville’s Paralympic cycling events, accessible dining and attractions, sensory-friendly stops and outdoor experiences at Noccalula Falls and Little River Canyon, along with a visit to Ivy Green, the birthplace of Helen Keller in Tuscumbia.
“I’m excited to showcase North Alabama’s beauty coupled with information on how travelers of all abilities can enjoy varied adventures,” said host Darley Newman. “Making travel more accessible is beneficial to us all. Plus, North Alabama was made for road trips with its stunning lakes and scenery, charming small towns and big cities and hidden treasures.”
