Orion Amphitheater Named Attraction of the Year

Decatur, Ala. (September 22, 2022) - The Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association (AMLA) has honored Orion Amphitheater as the 2022 Attraction of the Year. The award is among 11 that comprise the 2022 PEAK Awards that were presented today during the AMLA Annual Meeting at Mars Music Hall at the Von Braun Center in downtown Huntsville, Ala.

Representing the highest achievement in North Alabama tourism, the PEAK Awards honor individuals, events and organizations that have had a major impact on tourism in North Alabama.

The Attraction of the Year award is presented to the AMLA member attraction that has made a great contribution to tourism in the past year.

The Greek-style Orion Amphitheater located in Huntsville, Ala. is the beginning of a new era for entertainment in North Alabama. The 8,000 capacity venue offers a state-of-the-art sound system, upscale bars on every level and a bowl-like structure that maximizes the view and sound quality for every seat in the house. More than 120,000 tickets have been sold in the past five months. The venue’s mission goes beyond music as it will provide cultural experiences throughout the year including farmer’s markets, art displays and educational events. Ben Lovett, a member of the Grammy-winning Mumford and Sons band, spearheaded the project and his team worked closely with Huntsville city officials to develop the world-class facility.

“With the PEAK Awards, we celebrate and recognize the many talented individuals and organizations who offer our visitors a unique and memorable experience. These individuals and organizations continue to show their commitment, resilience and ingenuity, even during the uncertain times a pandemic brings with it. Because of these tourism leaders, attractions, festivals and front-line workers, the tourism and travel industry continues to be a driving force in North Alabama’s economy,” said AMLA President/CEO Tami Reist.
