Decatur, Ala.  – For over three decades, the town of Cullman has celebrated its German beginnings with a family-friendly festival offering all things German. Cullman Oktoberfest, one of North Alabama’s largest and most anticipated events, will take place at Depot Park in downtown Cullman September 29 through October 1, 2022, and during the three-day festival, the entire Cullman community rolls out the welcome mat and invites everyone to enjoy a multitude of fun activities, including a biergarten, an arts and crafts show, live German music, kids’ activities, a bratwurst eating contest and more.

Oktoberfest gets underway at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 with the opening of the biergarten. Official opening ceremonies are slated for 6 p.m. and throughout the evening there will be live music, crowning of Miss Oktoberfest, carriage rides and candlelight walking tours.

Friday’s festivities get underway at 4 p.m. Sept. 30 and include a children’s area, a kid’s pickle eating contest, stein hoisting contests for kids and adults, carriage rides and more live music.

Family-friendly fun resumes Saturday morning, Oct. 1 when the arts and crafts show and children’s area open at 9 a.m. Biergarten and food vendors featuring tasty German food open at 10 a.m. and additional activities lined up for the day include wiener dog races, live music, pet costume contest and parade, stein hoisting and best dressed contests for kids and adults, carriage rides and a brat eating contest.
