Hartselle Celebrates Railroad Heritage
Decatur, Ala. – The Depot Days Festival rolls into Hartselle September 21, 2019, bringing a day of family-friendly fun and entertainment to the historic depot and downtown area. Hosted by the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce, the free event is a tribute to the railroad industry and its contribution to Hartselle and the North Alabama region. In addition to the one-day celebration, there are several activities planned leading up to the event.
Now in its 39th year, the Depot Days Festival gets underway at 8 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. Activities include a car, truck and motorcycle show, music performances by The Ben Parker Project and Brandon Elder, food vendors, an art show, crafts, a tractor and engine show and a variety of fun and games for children. Runners will take to the streets for the half-marathon race, a partnership between the festival and the Hartselle Kiwanis Club, at 7 a.m. at Quail Creek Golf Resort and Convention Center. Additional activities leading up to the festival for the public to take part in include a community-wide worship service located at 35 Tabernacle Road SW in Hartselle on Sunday, September 15, the Down Memory Lane program at the historic Burleson Center on September 16, a new Glow in the Dark youth night at J.P. Cain Stadium on September 18 and a community-wide pep rally at the Hartselle High School gymnasium at 7 p.m. September 19.
