3rd Friday Hits Downtown Decatur April 19

Decatur, Ala. – Downtown Decatur’s 3rd Friday takes to the streets for the first time in 2019 on Friday, April 19. Each month through October, the monthly street party encourages the celebration of all that downtown Decatur has to offer while filling the historic downtown area with classic cars, live music, shopping and other free family fun.

Downtown Decatur’s 3rd Friday gets underway at 5:30 p.m. During the monthly street party, antique cars line up along 2nd Avenue, children are treated to a variety of activities and some of the area’s best musicians and entertainers perform at various locations. Shoppers can catch store specials, giveaways and discounts at select retailers, and along with great shopping with the downtown merchants, craft vendors selling handmade items and artists and artesian goods vendors fill the area of 2nd Avenue from Moulton Street to Johnston Street where festival goers can browse and purchase unique items.

Organized by the Downtown Merchants and Business Association, 3rd Friday is concentrated in the 2nd Avenue area only (including Holly Street, Moulton Street, Johnston Street and Grant Street). Beginning at 4:30 p.m. streets will begin to be blocked and will be closed to traffic from 5:30 until 9:00 p.m. Antique and classic cars are asked to be in place by 5:30 p.m.
