Bigger is definitely better at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals. Its Fighting Joe ourse features more than 8,000 yards of challenging golf while its tree-lined Schoolmaster Course is equally as fun but more traditional. Come hungry as amenities include a full-service bar and grill serving breakfast and lunch. Open seven days a week, sunrise to sunset. Nearby in Florence, the Blackberry Trail Golf Course offers visitors 6,851 yards of golfing ecstasy. This Par 72 course opened in 2001 and has affordable green fees and great discounts for senior golfers.

Located just 30 minutes from Huntsville, Gunter’s Landing Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course rated four stars by Golf Digest. Featuring Tiff Eagle Greens and Bermuda fairways with four sets of tees on every hole, Gunter’s Landing has it all including a practice putting green, 3-tier driving range, full-service pro shop with PGA professional staff, and well-stocked snack bar.

With the stunning backdrop of Wheeler Lake, Joe Wheeler Golf Course offers an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Earl Stone. The course’s rolling hills accentuate the river and though the course plays long, it’s accessible for newbies. Expect to see plenty of wildlife as deer and bluebirds are abundant in this natural wonderland.

Situated high atop Taylor Mountain in Lake Guntersville State Park, Eagle’s Nest Golf Course features striking mountain scenery that highlights the beauty of the course. One of the South’s most fun-filled courses, Point Mallard is a Par 72 unlike any other with 7,000 yards of golf hidden among North Alabama’s beautiful wooden pines.
