Known for its scenic beauty of the Appalachian foothills, Franklin County is home to a number of nature-based destinations and historic spots. Sites includes Alabama’s newest horse trails, the Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park; the National Natural Landmark Dismals Canyon; Cypress Cove Farms, a historic Appalachian Village; fishing, camping, swimming and white water rafting at Bear Creek Lakes; and the Tammy Wynette displays at the Red Bay Museum. The County seat of Franklin is Russellville which is known as the Watermelon Capital of Alabama.
