The Pastime Theatre provides a diverse schedule of musical, artistic, and educational programs for visitors of all ages. The theatre is a wonderful venue that provides quality entertainment to Winfield and the surrounding area.
Each year a four-performance concert series is scheduled and sold as a season package. Individual performances are also scheduled throughout the year. Several free events are scheduled for kids which include special movies, magic shows, storytelling, etc. Pastime Music Revues feature several acts and are scheduled every three or four months.
In the past, there has been a wide variety of performances at the theatre—comedians, storytellers, children’s plays, and all types of musicians, including classical piano, violin, an Irish tenor, folk, country, and rock and roll. Broadway and nationally-known stars, as well as local performers, have been showcased. Check out our website or visit us on Facebook.
Pastime Theatre in Winfield proudly announces its 2022 concert season!!!
“We normally begin our concert season in February, but the Pastime Theatre and the downtown area were directly impacted by the December 28, 2021 tornado. While repair and rebuilding efforts are still underway, we are excited to announce that performances will return to The Pastime Theatre stage in March”, stated Mary Hyche, Theatre chairman.
March 26th at 7 pm, the Pastime Theatre will kick off the 2022 concert season with The Wildflowers, A Tribute to Tom Petty, and the Heartbreakers. The Alabama-based band was formed in 2012 by bassist Darryell Stone. Since their debut, they have toured nationally and internationally recreating the music of Tom Petty with precision, attention to detail, and reverent respect. Tickets for this performance will be $25.
Remember putting on an album and listening from start to finish? Relive that moment with a live concert experience unlike any other as The Black Jacket Symphony recreates Pink Floyd’s iconic album The Dark Side of the Moon live in its entirety — note for note, sound for sound — plus a full set of Pink Floyd’s greatest hits on May 14th at 7 pm. Over the past ten years, the Black Jacket Symphony has performed over 40 classic rock albums, bringing an incredible night of entertainment to over a million music lovers across the US. The group of hand-picked musicians changes based upon the album being performed — and no sonic detail is overlooked, with the musicians doing whatever it takes to reproduce the album. It’s a full night of rock and roll magic — plus a visual experience unlike any other. Fans across the country flock to their shows — and once you see one, you won’t miss another! Tickets for this performance will be $35.
The music will flow into the summer months as we welcome local band I-22 on June 18th at 7 pm. Formally known as Crow Bridge, the band was formed in 2004 as the brainchild of Anthony McCaleb and Ken Dodd. Some band members have changed over the years, but not the love of entertaining crowds at concerts, festivals, weddings, and private events in the surrounding area. This will be the first time I-22 has appeared on the Pastime Theatre stage and we look forward to a night of familiar faces and great music. Tickets for this performance will be $15.
Adding to our summer concert schedule, July 23rd at 7 pm will be local talent favorites and Walker County-based country-rock band Backdraft. Original band members were all firemen or the wife of a fireman, hence the name Backdraft. Backdraft has now spanned over 2 decades and continues to offer a variety of music styles from Oldies to Country to Rock & Pop. Backdraft has performed all over Alabama and neighboring states and played to a sold-out crowd at The Pastime Theatre last year. Tickets for this performance will be $15.
Finishing out our 2022 concert season on August 27th at 7 pm is GRAMMY®-winning AMERICAN IDOL Taylor Hicks and his acoustic show. Taylor Hicks is one of the Pastime Theatre’s most asked for repeat performers. Taylor draws fans, also known as the “soul patrol”, from all over Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida to the Pastime Theatre. His first appearance on the Pastime Theatre stage was to a sold-out crowd in 2016 and then again in December of 2021 as he performed Bob Seger’s hits and Christmas classics. We look forward to his next show. Tickets for this performance will be $35.
The Pastime Theatre anticipates hosting dinners prior to a couple of these shows, but details as of right now have not been made. We will announce dinner plans as soon as possible and will contact ticket holders as needed. “We are excited about this lineup and we are discussing possibly adding more shows towards the end of the year, including a Christmas show,” stated Hyche.
The safety of our guests is always a priority. We have a sanitizer station set up in our lobby as well as hand sanitizers throughout the facility. Masks are recommended, but not required.
