Past Times LLC was organized by John L. (Bo) Williams and Sharon Hindman Hester for the purpose of rejuvenating property known as “The Overton Farm” located in Hodges, Alabama and using that property as an event venue. Abner Overton, a tobacco peddler from North Carolina, and his wife, Judy Mae, purchased 160 acres on Bear Creek in 1817, two years before Alabama became a state. Overtons lived on and worked the land from that time until it was purchased by the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1969 as a part of the Bear Creek Water Control Project. The Bear Creek Development Authority (BCDA) is charged with the maintenance of the property and has leased the same to Past Times. The property still contains the Overton homestead, Overton Cemetery, two (2) 1800’s log cabins, modern dorms, and a dining hall. Past Times is working diligently to get the property ready for a public opening for various events beginning Spring, 2022.
