Mule Day is the official name of our festival and is always on the fourth Saturday in September, held rain or shine. The tradition began in 1975 by Curt Estes, Winfield Chamber of Commerce and Max Brasher to honor the hard working mules of days gone by. No one knew at that time the festival would grow into the successful event it is today. We have an estimated attendance of 25,000 on Saturday and large numbers on Friday night before for Mule Night Madness, a night of shopping at local businesses and vendors who are already set up for Saturday. There is food and music on Friday night as well.
Today, Winfield Chamber of Commerce sponsors Mule Day. Chamber Secretary Tamara Trull, can be reached at 205/487-4277 (Citizens Bank). Additional contacts also at the Citizens Bank are Jennifer Harbin or Anita Ray who can be reached at 205/487-4281.
