The Coon Dog Cemetery, established in 1937, is the final resting place for more than 185 coon dogs and is the only one of its kind. Key Underwood buried his dog Troop at the popular hunting camp, and many more hunters have done so in the years following. The rules are strict about having a dog buried at the Cemetery: the dog must be verified to be a coon dog by the owner, a witness, and a member of the Key Underwood Memorial Graveyard, Inc.

A celebration is held every Labor Day to honor the beloved coon dogs buried in the cemetery. There will be a liar's contest, arts & crafts, BBQ, and music. The celebration begins at 10am.

It's a peaceful place to visit. For more information about the Coon Dog Cemetery, go to www.coondogcemetery.com.
