SANTA ARRIVES IN ARAB BEGINNING NOVEMBER 25
Decatur, Ala. – The holiday season fills the town of Arab when the Arab Historic Village transforms its historical setting into a holiday wonderland for the second annual Santa in the Park. Santa, along with Mrs. Claus and his elves, will be ready to greet children and adults in anticipation of the upcoming holiday season beginning November 25, 2011.
Activities for children include visiting with Santa and sharing their holiday wish lists, decorating a cookie, and making an ornament in Santa’s Toy Shop. Santa’s wooden sleigh measuring 8-feet tall, 6-feet wide and 14-feet long will be on display providing a festive setting for holiday portraits. Stories will also be told at Santa’s General Store, the resident blacksmith will be busy making reindeer shoes at the Blacksmith Shop, and the historic Rice Church building will feature local musicians and carolers performing traditional holiday music.
Santa in the Park will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning November 25-26, and continuing through December 2-3, December 9-10, and December 16-17. Admission is $5 per person and children under 2 are admitted free. Proceeds will benefit the Arab Historical Society, Arab Park and Recreation Department, and the Arab Chamber of Commerce Junior Ambassador program.
Santa in the Park was a new addition to the 2010 Christmas in the Park held at Arab City Park. Christmas in the Park kicks off on November 25, 2011 at 6 p.m. with a lighting ceremony and live entertainment featuring Christmas music will immediately follow. The light display will be on each evening through December 31. Admission to the light display is free.
