WELCOME THE ARRIVAL OF SPRING WITH TWO DAYS OF HANDCRAFTED ARTS & CRAFTS AT ANNUAL BLOOMIN’ FESTIVAL

Decatur, Ala. – The 27th annual Bloomin’ Festival will be held April 9-10, 2011 on the beautiful campus of St. Bernard Abbey and Prep School. Recognized by the Southeast Tourism Society consistently in the past eight years as a “Top Twenty Event in the Southeast”, the annual event is expected to attract over 25,000 people for two days of arts and crafts, live music, and a chance to win a new automobile. The two-day event kicks off with a 5K Cross Country Race and culminates with the announcement of prize winners.

On April 9th at 8 a.m., participants of all ages are invited to compete in a 3.1 mile gravel and wooded area race. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers; top male and female masters; and to the first, and second place finishers in each age group. For more information on the 5K race, contact William Calvert at 256.255.0030 or a registration form may be downloaded from www.bloominfestival.com.

Over 140 booths filled with artists from across the United States demonstrating and exhibiting their handcrafted work are scattered throughout the beautiful grounds. At the conclusion of the two-day event, St. Bernard will give away a 2011 Jeep Patriot, a weekend vacation at Zoder’s Inn located in Gatlinburg, Tenn., a Zune HD 16 GB Wireless Media Player, a Kodak Easy Share Digital Camera, and an Apple iPod Shuffle. Ticket donations are $5 each or 6 for $25. Attendees do not have to be present to win.

St. Bernard Abbey and Prep School is located at 1600 St. Bernard Drive SE in Cullman, adjacent to the world famous Ave Maria Grotto, a 4-acre park featuring 125 miniature replicas of biblical structures and world-famous buildings, all hand built by a Benedictine monk. Admission to Ave Maria Grotto is $3 the entire weekend.

Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is a donation of $5 per person with children 5 years and under admitted free. Proceeds benefit St. Bernard Prep School, a private co-educational boarding school for grades 9-12. The festival is the largest fundraiser annually for the operation and maintenance of the school.
