ARAB’S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK ADDS NEW SANTA IN THE PARK TO HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES
Decatur, Ala. – Beginning Friday after Thanksgiving, the city of Arab offers a festive wonderland of lights when more than 2 million lights are lit in Arab City Park in celebration of the holiday season. The annual Christmas in the Park kicks off on November 26, 2010 at 6 p.m. with a lighting ceremony. Live entertainment featuring Christmas music will immediately follow the lighting ceremony and entertainment will continue each weekend through December 12. The light display will be on each evening through December 31. Admission to the light display is free.
Santa in the Park is a new and exciting addition to the event this year, providing spirited fun for all ages. The Arab Historic Village, located adjacent to Arab City Park, will be transformed into Santa’s Village where children will be able to visit with Santa and have a photo made with him, decorate a cookie and make an ornament in Santa’s Toy Shop, and climb aboard Santa’s “magic” sleigh. Stories will also be told at Santa’s General Store. Santa in the Park will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. on November 26-28, December 3-5, and December 10-12. Admission is $5 per person and children under 2 are admitted free.
Arab City Park is located off of Shoal Creek Trail Northeast in downtown Arab. For more information and a schedule of entertainment on Christmas in the Park, visit www.arabcity.org, www.arab-chamber.org, or call 256.586.8128.
